The Edwards nEXT240D and nEXT240T turbo molecular pumps consist of a turbo molecular pump with a permanently attached controller containing drive electronics. The controller controls the electrical supply to the pump with the exception of standby speed control. The Edwards nEXT 240 is a hybrid bearing compound turbo molecular pump. They feature 24 V to 48 V d.c. sensor less motors with a built-in drive that is fully compatible with Edwards range of TAG and TIC controllers. They are available preset for either 80 W or 160 W maximum power, the former enabling use with our 100 W TIC controllers are also recommended for pumping Argon, but with a longer ramp time to full operating speed. The duplex “D” variants have both turbo molecular and drag stages for improved tolerance to higher backing line pressures. The triplex “T” variants feature turbo molecular, drag and Edwards unique fluid dynamic stages for the ultimate in compression ratio and boost technology for maximum vacuum system rationalization. A basic pump system would require a Edwards nEXT240D pump, a TAG or TIC controller, either an air or water cooling accessory and a suitable backing roughing pump. The “Accessories” for the nEXT 240 are listed below
